Whilst diminutive these floats have the classic proportions of traditional bodied antennas, retaining the sensitivity to indicate
the shyest bites which as we all know often come from larger specimens, not always just Minnows and Gudgeons. Ideal for targetting quarry at close range and in the margins, especially
Crucian Carp and Tench.
The Minnow antenna has a turned balsa body set on a sturdy split cane tonkin bamboo stem. It has a hand coiled brass wire line eye
secured to the base with fine black silk thread. Spiral whipping in black silk adorns the lower part of the antenna immediately above the body. Perfect for those occasions
when only small will do, this sensitive and light float is illustrated here in two sizes, 4" and 5", both taking a suggested shot loading of 2BB &
1No8.
The turned balsa bodies on the Gudgeon antennas or the cork bodies on the Crucian Antennas are set on sturdy stems, the choice being
between split cane bamboo and Muscovy quill. A hand coiled brass wire line eye is whipped to the base of the float stems with fine silk thread in various colours, and also used in a spiral wound
pattern above the bodies.
At 6" long, the cane stemmed float carries
3BB.
The balsa on quill antenna is 7" long and
takes 2AAA.
The cork bodied floats are mounted on quill stems and at 7 1/2" long they settle with around 5BB.
The Crucian quill insert float is extremely light and sensitive, gaining its "lift" from the natural bouyancy of the Muscovy quill and its
sensitivity from the slim cane insert at the tip. As pictured here using a slender quill as the body, the float is 7 1/2" long and sets with 2BB, 1No.4 & 1No.8. If more bouyancy is required this
style of float can be made using quills with a less slender profile, and to any length desired.
These unique floats are signed and dated.
