Balsa - on Cane & Quill.

  Perch or pike bobs of classic proportions. Ideal whether you are live or dead baiting when hunting pike or catfish or perhaps using lobworm or maggot when stalking that monster perch, zander, trout or ruffe, the range of sizes available should cover most situations. The turned balsa bodies are set on rugged Tonkin Bamboo cane stems or attractive and sturdy Muscovy quill stems, an enduring traditional float making material that has been used for centuries. Hand coiled brass wire line eyes are whipped to the base of each float stem with fine silk thread.

 Available to order in a variety of colours and styles of finish as illustrated by the photographs here. Due to their greater bouyancy the quill stem floats generally carry slightly larger shot loads than those on cane.

    The large pike bob is 6" to 6 1/2" long and carries 14 to 16SG;
    The large perch float is 5" to 5 1/2" long and takes 10 to 12AAA;
    The medium perch bob is 4 1/2" long, taking around 6AAA;
    The small bob is 3 1/2" overall and sets with 3 to 4AAA.

When the angler desires, additional shot can be carried in each case enabling visibility to be traded off against extra sensitivity to match the circumstances and conditions on the day.

    These unique floats are signed and dated.
